United are a combination of two (they will tell you 3) very good Athens teams – Tie Dyed Tigers, Fulmer’s Fat Ass (and Yosef)
TDT & FFA used to take turns winning at Taco Mac back in the day and for some reason that I still don’t fully understand, they merged.
The result is the terrifying monster we now call United.
They own Athens trivia and lately they have taken a good bite out of Atlanta’s pie as well. Regardless of their configuration, they seem to win.. Mix ’em, match ’em, big team, little team – makes no difference.
Their trophy case is admirable.
The centerpiece is the World Cup of Trivia which is our ‘match play’ tournament held once every few years. They took down #9 in a 113 to to 109 thriller. And then, just for good measure, they went out in fall of 2011 and defended their title.
They also have two ‘little baby trophies (3rd place at MTM) and a ‘Big Baby’ (2nd)
As good as they have been, during MTM X they emerged as being even more dominant. They stormed through the cumulative like it was a forgone conclusion. They demoralized their opposition and were both lucky AND exceedingly good.
The best is yet to come for United as they look to join Utter Chaos & Buckhead Rednecks on the Full Contact Trivia’s version of Mount Rushmore

The merge occurred after the rest of our team moved away and TDT were down to just Noel and me. The merge was supposed to just be a temporary thing specifically for your DVD player mini-tournament at Po’ Boys, but we all enjoyed it so much that we made it permanent. After Matt, Sam, and Jeff graduated law school we were back to two again, as were the remnants of Yosef (JT and Mike). Noel and JT were both bartending at Molly O’Shea’s, so it was kind of natural to join our two groups.
Dave was a friend through former Yosef Members Mike and Tom and we gladly added him to the fold after learning his sports and music acumen, Jim was A Molly’s regular with some “old guy” knowledge and that was the original formation of the NEW LOOK Yunited….Bobby refuses to acknowledge the Y in the word, i’m not certain if we still even use it…We added current Mike (not the aforementioned) as a friend of mine from toli who was a quiz bowl guy and quirks guru, and Jeremy has been the latest full time addition to the roster fitting nicely into the team….cameo’s by the likes of Jeremy’s father, Pops of former B8shaq glory etc. are known to happen from time to time, but the diehard roster is 8 strong….thus endeth the sermon
