Wednesday’s game saw more upheaval across area leaderboards than any other game so far. Buckhead Rednecks (64) were the only familiar team in the top 3 in Canton, placing 2nd, as Cousins (72) won because of how little they actually knew about the final topic, and the Sowwee People (61), something of an offshoot of Challenged, placed 3rd for the first time ever. Well done!
Also of note from Canton – Samurai is now PIF and still plans on fielding MTM’s first ever solo team… Brass ones, if you ask me…
At Brewhouse, Axis’ Atlanta branch (94) got their first win of the tournament. Oedipus (83) hammered down 2nd and bobbystattoosux.com (75) sneaked into 3rd. BTS is the newly minted ‘invited’ team from Atlanta – Atlanta’s first invited team (and perhaps last) of the entire tournament. Notably absent from the top 3 are regional powerhouses Bobby Brown and Muffins, collectively shut out of the money at Brewhouse for the first time since the late 70’s.
In Athens, United (95) weathered the storm and took first at BPE, followed by (or in Nettlespeak, “follied by”) Better Late (77) and Toronto Crackheads (74). On the western shores of Blind Pig, usual suspects X-Rayted Monkeys and Axis of Evil both struggled, opening the door for 8=D (95), Cherry Poppins (75), and Buttcheeks (61) to collect cash.
I fully expect 8=D to enter MTM and class this joint up a bit… Better Late remain on the bubble, and are surely just stalling to be true to their name… And here’s hoping BTS.com takes advantage of the invite as well. It’s always good to have tassel holders, FCT’s highest honor, at our biggest event of the year.
