Arrival Times & Team Sizes

Bobby: The 1st few March Trivia Madness tournaments could easily be described as motley. What they lacked in organization was easily made up for in enthusiasm.

Like any good system it became an act and react relationship between the participants and the tournament rules. The player finds the weak spot, the system reacts. This happen 11 years ago, 10 years ago.. in fact the rules were probably changed in one way or another every year since the last two or three.

One of the early rule changes was the setting of arrival times.
We do this as a courtesy to the restaurant and to ensure that everyone will be served efficiently come Super Saturday. This aint no party, this aint no disco, this aint no fooling around son… and any help we can give the staff, we give it.

and … wait for it … I WAS A GD SERVER FOR 400 YEARS AND YOU WILL DO THIS FUCKER!

What we do is we set arrival times for groups of 5 teams in sets of two at 15 minute intervals, every 30 minutes. I’ll give you a minute to kick that one around before continuing

….

….

….

The reason is it helps the kitchen stay organized and flowing smoothly to have the flow spread out. The lowest seeded teams come 1st because the highest seeded teams get all the perks. This is not a hard concept to grasp but a very difficult one to create an argument against – so I suggest you do not try – it is a routine exercise that has never ended well for the solicitor.

You may arrive early and grab apps, maybe drink – hell, I recommend it. But help us stay organized by ordering in or around your arrival time when going for the whole table.

Here are your arrival times along with team sizes (in parentheses):
