Ball Ground (Darby): From Ball Ground, after writing this game a couple of days ago I predicted high scores. I knew it would come down to who would show up. Would Bobby Brown vs BOE be disciplined enough to show up? They didn’t. That’s a shame.
High scoring game led Red Dead Samurai (2 participation) to 108 point first place. Quen from Kramerica came and played by himself and earned 100 points for 2nd. Seoul Sisters (5 participants) scored 97 with 3rd. Challenged finished with 73 (4). Hazel Destroy* 69 (3). 2 Non tournament teams played as well.
This Saturday we WILL have the pairs game. While we are still short the minimum 15 teams we were hoping to get. Uncle Pepper’s and I are going to make up the jackpot difference should we not get up to 15 teams. So first place will receive a minimum of $150. 2nd $90. 3rd $60. If we get more than 15 the jackpot will increase. Also the winning team will receive an entry out of my own pocket to the FCT Pairs game the following Friday.
Kickoff is 2:15pm but be there by 2:00pm. Earlier you are there the better. Show up a little early as we try to organize seating for the event. I’ll post more information the next day or so.
Gainesville (Bobby): One evening remains in this year’s epic cumulative battle now that Thursday has passed.
MoBar in lovely Gainesville, Georgia is your latest stop and for the 1st time, the top 3 teams are in the room together in a prequel of things to come..
To be fair, BBvBoE was a shadow of their usual selves with only 3 available. The board is an ensemble cast and generally doesn’t fare as well with small-ish representation. Alliance & United were also in attendance and the game boiled down to those two (with apologies to Ray-Ray, Pabst, FMAF, & #9)
This game played more difficult than expected through 19 questions with only Alliance & United able to crack 70 points.
A nasty #20 was overcome by Only Alliance, Ears, and Dixie Wrecked to leave the following standings
Alliance – 92 (2)
United – 77 (4)
Ears – 67 (2)
Pabst – 63 (9)
Ray – Ray 63 (3)
#9 – 56 (9)
FMAF – 44 (9)
BBvBoE – 37 (3)
This sets up an epic Sunday in Athens with an interesting lil caveat being that there are bonus points available in Canton as well….
Will anyone be willing to take a run at all 3?
Will splitting your team kill you in Athens?
Can the players you’re willing to send to Canton be the answer that kills you in one or both Athens games?
Ooooooh the Drama!
