Canton (Brent): Spring break in Cherokee took its toll on a lot of the regular crowd tonight, but we still cobbled together 9 teams, with 7 from our scoreboard. It was a back and forth night between Bobby Brown & Muffins, who sent Rob to fly solo. After 18 questions, Rob actually had a slight advantage, but a dastardly worded Oscar question on #19 threw things back into the favor of the “new” Red Army of Full Contact Trivia… It was the question that won the game for Bobby Brown (88). Muffins (85) settle for an impressive yet probably disappointing 2nd. That might be Muffins’ best showing yet at Bedoe’s this tournament and reminiscent of last year’s drumbeat of dominance – hell, I even sometimes wonder if Rob is better off on his own (sometimes I write these things just to make sure Cody’s reading me each day <grin>).
For the 2nd night in a row, Hazel Destroy (75) sputter out of the gate but manage to snipe 3rd from less seasoned non-tourney teams.
McNuttski (49) played pretty well considering there were only 2 adults at the table…
Migrating Coconuts (31) collapsed in the 4th quarter… But they entered the Etta game, so they got that going for ’em. Which is nice.
Seoul Sisters (66) baffle me by getting most of the hard questions and missing the easy ones. I suppose that bodes well for Super Saturday, as there will likely be no easy questions that day for them to fall behind on…
Gainesville (Bobby): 6 Tournament teams @ the Barrel of Monkeys Tuesday night in lovely Gainesville, Georgia and all played well…
When the dust settled, #9 (4) played solidly from front to back and won with 97. Save a little conservative play in the 4th quarter, this would not have been very close.
United (4) send their road warriors west for 6 useful bonus points and 89
FMAF (2) take a scrappy 3rd away from Playboys (10) in OT with 70
Ears (3) play like shit early and never quite recovered with 64
Experience (4) begin the 4th qtr in 2nd place but leave with a disappointing 60
No new entrants in the Etta James game, although #9 have expressed their intent to play.. It appears Playboys may be rethinking their early commitment to participate.
Big night tomorrow at a venue near you …
