Avondale (Bobby): Only five teams taking advantage of Brewhouse in Avondale’s Monday evening game, but those in attendance weren’t half-stepping with a total of 47 players on those 5 teams.
Since none of the teams had played one of my games since last Wednesday @ Brewhouse, I was sitting on 3 potential games to re-use. I let one of the waitresses randomly select and she chose the game from Amici Sunday night in Athens…
Game on …
All five teams played within 10 points of each other the entire night, so this was like re-shuffling the deck @ each point update.
BBvBoE (10) scored a big win on #10 and managed to nose out in front, but quickly gave it back on a lost 8 point bid in the 3rd qtr that saw the rest of the room cash in 8 point bids..
Oedipus (11) nipped at the leader’s heels for the entire 2nd half with Stepdads (11) manning the 3rd spot for most of that time..
Muffins (8) and Boston Braves (8) were never more than 6 points away from the leaders …
In the end, It was Oedipus 86, Braves 76, & BBvBoE 72
‘dads – 60
Muffins – 53
As an aside – Oedipus were celebrating Clint’s 31st birthday and he brought along his lovely GF of roughly 1 year…
This stands defiantly opposite all the laws of Darwin..
The over/under on Clint dying easily passed 3 or 4 years ago and the odds of him breeding successfully with a mammal, much less a normal and well adjusted human being are somewhere in the ‘Jesus Returns’ and ‘Bobby Gets a Real Job’ range …
So we offer our congratulations to Oedipus on these unlikely achievements …
Canton (Brent): 12 teams playing trivia, and half the room consisted of tournament teams – Migrating Coconuts, Challenged, #9, Red, Ray-Ray, and Seoul Sisters all vying for performance points.
Nobody showed up full-strength, and this game was begging for a 100+ score. Because of each team’s limitations, none could get it. One team that was relatively full-strength, however, was High Rollers, who politely declined several invitations to join March Trivia Madness. They put together a fine evening and win with 91. A&MOooT member Steve Haas flies solo for #9 and posts 86 for second place – an impressive total considering he managed only 3 points on the first 4 questions and blew an 8-pointer in the 3rd. Ray-Ray ran things for most of the night but stumbled on the final question and settle for 3rd with 69.
Migrating Coconuts (36) play their normal efficient game but tonight’s game had a bit of a slant toward the older triviaheads in the crowd, and Coconuts felt the effects.
Challenged (51) continues to flirt with top 3 finishes but #20 keeps killing them.
Seoul Sisters (60) on the heels of a correct #10, were neck-and-neck with Ray-Ray and firmly in the discussion until they torched their 8-pointer to open the 4th Q on a bad social sports question. Still, they had a shot at 2nd on #20, but couldn’t get it done. They were no doubt distracted by the 3-year old zombie kid wandering the premises…
Red (50) is gonna be without their MVP, Big Mike, for a week (maybe two?), and they’re already seeing the difference he makes. Red has to do their best to just try to hold serve and post one decent score this week. Then again, they seem completely unconcerned with seats at the finals, so maybe this doesn’t really matter…
Also, Car Ramrod (56) continues to kick around a possible allegiance with McNuttski. We will see if anything comes of it…
