***Important Announcement: MTM XI’s cumulative phase will be 10 weeks. Repeat, TEN WEEKS… It concludes April 15. We normally schedule 9 in case we need makeup games due to ice storms or snow or whatnot… But since this Winter only lasted a couple hours (between 5:00-9:00 AM the morning of the SEC Championship Game, I’m pretty sure) this year, we don’t appear to be in any danger of losing games… Plus, this cumulative race has been pretty fun, and I think everyone will enjoy having an extra week to see it play out…
Athens (TJ): 18 teams at Blind Pig on Wednesday, 6 tournament teams and only one of them would end up placing on what turned out to be a damn tough game.
Non-Tourney teams Marco and Dumpster Fire (team without a name) continue to be a thorn in the side of Athens teams. Marco placed 1st and Dumpster Fire was best of the rest going into 20. Teams have begun the interview process to try to pull these teams into the MTM but neither one wants to bite. House team “Sit on my Facebook” take third away from the house on a correctly guessed 20.
B8shaq is in the lead all night and a smart bid on 20 ties them for 2nd and they nail the overtime question and collect 2nd placed points.
Fact Hunt (31)
Kitten Mittens (33)
Beaver Feaver (45)
Atlanta (Bobby): 17 teams @ Broohaus, 8 of them of the tournament variety…
Many teams playing at a high level, not the least of which Fulmer’s Fat Ass, who was seeking a return to last year’s form and a quality result that had been just out of reach for the last few weeks.
Tonight they get it with a 108 (they’ll tell you it should’ve been a 112) (5)
2nd place goes to a relatively full strength Muffins (100 – 10)
3rd – BBvBoE (95 – 10)
Oedipus – 93 (7)
Stepdads – 79 (9)
Gluttons – 75 (6)
Kramerica – 63 (4)
Donkey – 24 (3)
Good to see a couple of the ‘Beyond the Glory’ guys last night. It’s been a long time.. Next time bring that horrible little Auburn fan you call Adam with you…
Grayson (Darby): Update from Hail Mary’s 10 teams started the night including 2 tournament teams: #9 and Experience. Experience, after giving me music to use next week get rewarded with a last place pitcher with a final of 37 (6 attendance). That’s a bit skewed though as a bunch of teams left during the 4th quarter. #9 ended up with 2nd place and a score of 61 (4 attendence). A team on the patio won with 93. I watched them like a hawk and much to everyone else’s suprised it was legit.
A note about my Friday games in Dawsonville: Upon further review I have decided that my new shows at Old Towne Pizza in Dawsonville will NOT be March Trivia Madness eligible. Some concern was originally brought to my attention today and during my 5 hour round trip commute to Grayson I had the opportunity to rethink this. First, a new venue is already going to have some challenges that do not need to be hindered by MTM (seating, wait staff, acoustics etc). Second, MTM deserves a high level of trivia. A new show does not need to scare away hopefully future attendees. Inflated scores could result which would skew the cumulative. Not my intent. Third, Bobby has already scheduled pay-to-play shows for Fridays. I don’t want to hurt that attendance. There are other reasons too. And I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience my over-eagerness caused. I do hope you come out and play just for the hell of it. Thank you.
Carrollton (Bryan): 15 teams in the room with Sauced (41) and Cartel (54) carrying the tournament flag. In the end non tourny teams snipe the top three with 4* winning (65), Donkey Punch (64), and Razor Burn (57) rounding out the money. Both tourny teams show 2 in attendance.
Canton (Brent): 11 teams at Johnny’s tonight, 5 of which are MTM squads. Non-tourney team Thunder Breathing Dragon Cats take a surprise victory with 88 points. They’re a team I always really like – they come consistently and always get their asses handed to them… So it gives me great joy when they rise up and win. Tonight they did. Kudos to them…
Of course, they never should have had a chance to win… And Red (84) knows this. At this point, Red’s bidding has been talked about so much, I don’t even want to do it again… But this needs to be fixed. The fact they’re still even in the discussion for the cumulative is a testament to their consistency in all other facets of the game. A 20 point bid tonight on #10 gives them 9 more points in the cumulative. I’ll let them do the math and see where that places them…
Ray-Ray (63) play short-handed and make some mistakes but manage to take 3rd with some prescient bidding at the end…
Challenged (56) couldn’t hammer down #20 and left some points on the board at halftime, but other than that played pretty well…
Seoul Sisters (22) saw Taylor flying solo, and the good mojo from last week when he posted a decent 67 on his own and scored $120 in overtime house cash came crashing down tonight, as he has fallen victim to the curse of the overtime jackpot…
Migrating Coconuts (13) were overheard saying “we’re just here to have fun tonight” on the way in… I’m glad….
Just for fun, before scoreboard time, here’s a list of the teams with at least 4 wins so far in the tournament. I have some stats that I’m not posting on the nightly scoreboards, so I just figured I’d occasionally share some…:
8 – Alliance
7 – Red Dead Samurai
6 – Angry Planners
6 – Ray-Ray’s Partay
5 – #9
5 – United
4 – Oedipus & the Mama’s Boys
4 – Hazel Destroy
Ok, scoreboard time for real now…
