Athens (TJ): 18 teams at Blind Pig felt like a night off. Six tournament teams show up and play the whole game in the top 6. All the non veteran teams kept checking to make sure United, B8shaq, T2RB, & Rash weren’t cheating. All six teams played a great game. B8shaq collected 9 performance points and a strong 109(5). The two Jimmy Jams members have made a great team even deeper. T2RB looks like they did in the WCoT and score a 107(5) and Fact Hunt scores a 93(5) and snipe 3rd place performance points.
Canton (Brent): 13 teams, 5 of the MTM variety… Ray-Ray looking for their 2nd win in as many nights, Red hoping to make a move into 1st place in the cumulative, Seoul Sisters flying solo (Seoul Sister, I guess) hoping to snag some performance pts, Challenged still rehabbing their trivia team, and Coconuts… well, the Wednesday squad for Coconuts just wants to have a good time…
Ray-Ray dominated the night, dropping just 2 points through the first 14 questions (and on a 70’s song, surprisingly). The 3rd Q music bonus was essentially a brick wall to all scoring, but they still cruised to a win with 92. Aside from #10, Red (90) managed to match them pretty much question for question all night. This is becoming quite the entertaining rivalry. Red adds a point to their base score for the week and 6 performance points, and Red cast their eye toward Atlanta to see how Bobby Brown fared. Johnny’s stalwarts Cantonese Warriors snipe 3rd…
Seoul Sisters (67) are best of the rest, which is a solid effort considering Taylor flew solo. And then he nailed the overtime question to take home $120 in house cash for my locations…
Challenged (66) are getting back to where they belong. It’s just coming a little late in the tournament… And they can’t seem to find a #20 they like.
Coconuts (19) entertained me with retarded answers all night long…
What 1995 teen comedy is based on a Jane Austen novel?
“Weekend at Bernie’s”
Christian Slater and Winona Ryder starred in what 1989 dark comedy?
LMAO… Coconuts is not a dumb team… They play for real on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Wednesdays turn into “awww, fuck all this tournament stuff, we’re here to have fun”…
Carrollton (Bryan): For the first time at ANY game this tournament, I believe, a tournament team did not place. Only Cartel was in attendance, and they finished a disappointing 4th.
Atlanta (Bobby): 11 tournament teams in L5P Wednesday night..
I re-asked the Thursday evening game from MoBar the previous week.
Buckhead Rednecks – 94 (3)
BBvBoE – 94 (6)
FFA – 74 (5)
Stepdads – 69 (9)
Muffins – 66 (6)
Braves – 60 (3)
Gluttons – 57 (6)
P-Value – 56 (5)
Kramerica – 55 (4)
Donkey – 47 (3)
Red – 12 (4)
Stepdads were unlucky with #20, otherwise they run through this game as well as anyone that has heard it. Rednecks & Bobby Brown duel in OT for the win and Rednecks get a HUGE result that they have been sorely needing. FFA jump from 11th to 3rd on #20… Can you say ‘Hail Mary’?
Speaking of Hail Mary…
Grayson (Darby): Grayson started with our regular team, tonight playing as “I’m nuts over Leprechauns” asking if we were still giving out invites. This is after they won invites for multiple weeks. I gave them the bad news and they proceeded to lead through question #19. They were perfect after round one, only 1 back from perfect at halfway, missed only 1 bonus on #15…Experience, #9, and Oedipus all pleading with me that they must be cheating…nope these guys are good. It’s a shame that they didn’t enter. I’m sure they would have been a force to deal with.
However, the fourth quarter was rough on them. Only securing 8 more points going into the 2:00 warning. This allowed everyone to catch back up, and when all the dust settled, #9 passed them to take first with a whopping 93 points. Nuts settled for 2nd with 84. Experience survived and got 3rd with 73. Oedipus settled for 4th and 63.
Experience 73 (6)
Oedipus 63 (4)
