Week 5 FINAL

Carrollton (Bryan): Non-tourney team Balls of Steel win with 57, Sauced (42) takes 2nd, and Cartel (40) takes 3rd.

Athens (Bobby): Reversal of a recent trend in Athens as the Pig was average (for the Pig) with 16 teams and Amici was raucous with 23.

The Pig hosted a high scoring game with 8 tournament teams in attendance.

T2RB finally scored something besides 84, and won with 114 (8). Ears check in with a 2nd place 92 (2), and the scraps of Jimmy Jams (that didn’t make the cut for B8Shaq) called ‘A Lot of Leftovers’ snipe 3rd with 89 (and notably don’t play as Alliance, for some weird reason) .. and then taunt B8Shaq all the way out to the parking lot. The sad irony here is B8Shaq were dominate for 19 questions only to slip to 87 (7).

Kitten Mittens tally an uninspiring 69 (3), Phasers are equally unimpressive with 58 (7), Oedipus just can’t put an entire game together yet 87 (5), United’s woes continue 68 (5), and Fact Hunt ley opportunity pass them by with a 62 (10).

Amici started slowly, but an odd rush of people at the exact moment trivia began filled the place to capacity as the intro was being conducted – weird.

Again, 8 tournament teams played and again, scoring would be described as ‘above average’.

In the end, United got a much needed result with 110 (7), Kitten Mittens catch and pass Oedipus in OT 90 (4), and Oedipus (5) are left scratching their heads after dominating the room until the dying few questions.

Ears are an unlucky BotR with 85 (2), Rash tally 80 (6), Phasers play better with in spots but again offer an uneven performance with 73 (4), B8Shaq make a rare Amici appearance with 63 (4), and Fact Hunt don’t start scoring until the 2nd half 51 (5).

Week 5 is complete..

This leader board is a solid gauge of where you stand in this tournament…

Canton (Darby): 10 teams in the house at LaBamba including some top shelf teams that decided to do a little traveling: Bobby Brown v Board of Ed, #9, Alliance, Seoul Sisters, and Hazel Destroy.

At the end of the 1st quarter, the Alliance was a basketball question* away from being perfect and was determined to try and better their score for the week. But in the end, a bad social on what seemed to be a very obvious #20 put Seoul Sisters and Alliance at a tie with 69. Alliance pulled out the tiebreaker to earn the 9 bonus points. Bobby Brown earns 3rd.

FINAL SCORES (Participation):
Alliance 69 (3)
Seoul Sisters 69 (7)
Bobby Brown vs Board of Ed 66 (5)
#9 54 (2)
Hazel Destroy – Not eligible at this show due to the “Alliance Rule” had 28 (4). (I put this here not to start anything, but to simply give an accurate recording of the tournament teams)

A reminder that there will be a Bonus Show Tuesday at Uncle Peppers Kitchen 7:00 where I suspect performace points will be plentiful.

*As editor of this site, I’d like it to be noted that it was a women’s basketball question that Alliance missed… <grin>

Ok, like last Sunday, let’s do a seat-check here with 4 weeks to go…

  1. God says:

I prefer to call it the ‘Cody owns Alliance’ rule …

  2. Lee says:

I tried getting BBvBoE to bid 10 on the final (would’ve won) but we just don’t know how…

    • Brent Blackwell says:

I’m sure we all put the same answer for the same bid on that question… It was a particularly devious question, and while a smaller bid wins the game for any of the top 3 teams, it’s still the type of question where, in most cases, I think it’s safe to assume others will get it right and go big on your bid. While the bid didn’t work out for you (and could’ve proved fatal for us or Seoul Sisters as well), I still think it was sound strategy from all teams involved… It’ll pay off more than hurt you in the long run, IMO.
