Crawford canceled trivia in Carrollton, which must mean he’s about to die or something. So… no scores from Alabama.
Canton (Brent): Despite 14 teams being in the house, only a handful were tourney teams. Red Dead Samurai have played very well this tournament, piling up performance points night in and night out, but the one thing that has been conspicuously absent is a big score. Mike, who played by himself for the first 18 questions before his wife joined him just in time to help with #19, remedied that with a 101 point night, and that was with him leaving 6 points on the board on #20. It’s a big boost for Red, as they become one of the first 4 teams to break the 400 point plateau… Non-tourney team Aced (94) played remarkably well and found themselves in a tie for 2nd with Ray-Ray’s Partay (94). Ray-Ray barely outdueled them in OT for 6 performance points. Aced was a first time team who got the invite, but Canton seems to be out of potential teams that aren’t already in.
Coconuts (40) played pretty well except for the 4 bonus questions… Seoul Sisters (39) continue to astound me by getting difficult questions and blowing seemingly easy ones…
Athens (TJ): Crazy night in Athens. 25 teams set a Blind Pig record on Wednesday. Beaver Fever (42) becomes team #33 and pays their entry fee! Jimmy Jams (70) leads going into the 4th quarter again and falls one place out of where they want to be with a 6th place finish. Kitten Mittens (91) don’t find the top three until the end of the game with a nice come from behind win. United (87) takes 2nd. A two man Phasers (82) team takes 3rd. B8shaq (81) ends the night with another heartbreaking 2 point bid and correct answer. Someone needs to stress to them that they can’t take those points home with them each night. They end the night in 4th after being in the top 2 all night. Bubble team is local team Cobra Kai and have no interest in entering the finals.
Atlanta (Bobby): 14 teams @ Brewhouse tonight and many of the better teams fielded their strongest set.
The game turned into a 2 team boat race between Muffins (9) & Bobby Brown (11).
In the end, Bobby Brown answered every question asked of them and managed the tournament’s most impressive win to date..
118 – 116
I cannot recall a higher 2nd place score ever, but I have a feeling someone else will, nonetheless Bobby Brown opened with a perfect 1st quarter and held a 24-23 lead.
Remained perfect at halftime 50-48 and managed to maintain the 2 point lead in spite of a ferocious stretch run from Muffins.
Oedipus (4) take a worthy third with 91.
Other scores –
Kramerica 87 (5)
FFA 83 (4)
P-Value 73 (6)
Gluttons 70 (5) BUBBLE
Gluttons are suffering a crisis of confidence due to recent poor play and hesitated to pull the trigger.. We shall see what comes of it, but presently they are your Wednesday bubble.
Grayson (Darby): On a slower night 3 qualified teams came out – #9, Buckhead Rednecks, and Experience. But the winner tonight was our team who changes names each week but just aren’t confident enough to risk the $100. It’s a shame because I’m sure they would do very well, but oh well. Tonight they were known as “It’s Leap Day, or Hop Day if You’re White” and ended with 94. 2nd place goes to #9 with 92 points, improving their score and earning bonus points. 3rd goes to William Shatner Face, who looks like will run out of time trying to enter. They finish with 85.
Experience improves their base score with a 80. Buckhead Rednecks finish with 63.
