Week 8 – Wednesday

EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to a clerical error, United was shorted one point in the Week 4 final.  This has been corrected as of THIS update and their new score is correct.

Bryan: Live from Bowdon, It’s Wednesday night…..

Competitive, low scoring game tonight at Loco Mex with Glass 1/2 Full taking to the road and playing in Bowdon for the first time and taking the win as a result.

Results:
Glass 1/2 Full 69 + 9 bonus (6 Attendence)
Straight Randy’s 59
What’s My Name 58 + 3 bonus (9 Attendence)

Worth noting that tonight marks my 3rd year at Loco Mex on Wednesday nights making this the current longest running FCT show outside of Athens. #Winning

Brent: After hinting in the week’s preview that Ray-Ray was playing a dangerous game regarding their one-night a week schedule, I went to trivia tonight half-expecting them to lose some ground this evening. I figured, after last week’s near-full strength effort of 112 points, they’d start to get lazy.

I figured wrong.

Buoyed by “Mr. Bill” Dalton’s first appearance of the tournament, Ray-Ray showed up even MORE full strength than ever and curb-stomped the house, this time to the tune of 99 points (9 bonus, 7 attn). 99 is impressive any time, but more so when you see the score for 2nd: 58. Dominant effort from Ray-Ray, who are playing as well as I’ve ever seen them play.  It’s scary to see them playing with confidence…

Speaking of that 58, Challenged outlasted non-tourney team Smarty Pints in OT to secure 2nd (6 bonus, 7 attn). Red finishes out a 2nd straight rough week with 39 points (5 attn). Southern Posse echoes Monday’s game by scoring 56 points for 4th (1 attn) in what could be the first of two sluggish weeks due to vacations and absences and whatnot.

Bobby: 90 people crammed themselves into Brewhouse for trivia, which was a stark contrast to the ZERO people in the entire place when I arrived a tad early to set up. 30 minutes after trivia, there 8 people in the bar… It is on nights like these that bars and restaurants fall madly in love with Full Contact Trivia – so thanks for the strong showing on a bit of a crappy weather night..

Of course the fact that much is still balanced on a razor’s edge might have a bit to do with that, and a clash at the top of the leader board was on tap as United, Bobby Brown, and Muffins got down with much on the line.

Many other teams were playing for chairs at the finals, and of course, there was beer and house cash to be won…

United(107) play strong all night and beat back challenges by (most notably) Boston Braves (85) (who briefly led in the 4th quarter but dropped back to 2nd on the Cosmonaut question) and Kramerica (86), charged hard in the 3rd quarter only to lose their everloving minds in the 4th quarter and settle for a game 2nd.. Bobby Brown finish 5th (68) & Muffins scratch and claw and struggle all night only to post a very game 72… Step Dads (57) were just too inconsistent to be there at the end and the ‘Party Wing’ of Tip posts a 38.

My Hot Boss finally appeared from the murky past and after shaking off a lil 1st quarter rust played pretty OK.. I think the only Loco’s team that hasn’t migrated over is ‘Beyond the Glory’
