Brent: First off, let me point out a new column I’ve added, “current hi”, on the far right. This is simply each team’s high base score for the CURRENT week. When I post the end-of-the-week totals each Monday morning, that will show each team’s final high score for that week. Then, it all resets to zero. It’s hard to follow just which teams are playing and this should make tracking the day-to-day tournament easier.
Now, for the Canton update… Challenged showed up strong and dominated for 19 questions… Only to fumble at the goal line and watch 4 teams pass them at the end. They’re playing better than they did last week, but the dumpster fire is still burning in a few spots. Instead, it was Granny’s Posse that returned to the winner’s circle, but only after an interesting OT battle against the team they’ve decided to join in the tournament, Southern Samurai. It presented an interesting dilemma for the Samurai: Beat the Grannies in OT and take an extra $20 in house cash… or lay down and help your tournament by securing 3 extra performance points… They didn’t lay down, but the Grannies prevailed. Elsewhere, Minor Alliance enter the tournament and post a 70 point score, which is more in line with their capabilities than the 12 pt effort they gave me in week 2. Robert from Muffins proves to be human after all with a dismal 34 pt night.
Bobby: Very light crowd at MoBar tonight.. I ran the game Brent sent me (Jack Benny, Pope John Paul I) and it shook out as follows..
#9 – 95
Pabst – 70
BB v. BOE – 51 (limited representation)
FMAF – 23 (limited Representation)
Sorry Playboys, but after conferring with the competition committee, we are in agreeance that Fulstead Act won’t cut the phonetic mustard when Volstead Act is required.. But since I have 75% of the competition committee vote, the outcome was never in question anyway.. and there was no way I was throwing it to the floor when half the mouths in attendance were sitting at your table .. nice try though…
Bar Nuts take 3rd but have previously watched bubbles burst, so I mention it only for the sake of adding it to the formal minutes of the evenings proceedings..
